we're back

at the request of many of our readers, i am going to make every attempt to blog more often. i usually have a few minutes after jackson goes to sleep and before i go to bed that i can add a few little tidbits daily (well, maybe every other day).

golly, it seems as though so much has happened since the last time i blogged. the main thing that happened was jackson celebrated his four month birthday on may 27th. four months also means that he had a doctor's visit and had to have more vaccinations. yeah, that part wasn't so great, but we (mommy and jackson) made it through. the good part of the appointment was being able to find out how much the little guy has grown!! jackson is now 14.7lbs and 26 and 1/3 inches long. i guessed that his length was about 26 inches... who would have ever known that i would have been that close in my guestimate. the doctor does chart his measurements and he is in the 50 percentile range in his weight and 90 percentile in his height. guess the little guy is going to get his height from his momma.
we also received the okay to start cereal and veggies! we have now learned that jackson is very sensitive to textures. he didn't like the cereal at all by itself. i made it really thick and then i made it really thin and he just gagged on both textures:so, i got a little frustrated and put the cereal in his bottle (against my own wishes -- i wanted him to learn to use a spoon). well, after one day of putting it in the bottle, i decided to try and mix it with a veggie. green beans were first -- he seemed to like them. after the 2nd day, he had it down pat. eating from the spoon was getting better as well. so, we needed a change. next, came carrots. these weren't quite as tasty:
we are still working on the carrots. the doctor wants us to stick with one veggie for a few days in a row to ensure he doesn't get any allergic reaction to any one veggie.
there are a couple more things that jackson has done this month. one -- he started just holding on to his bottle a little bit. he is no where near holding it up so that he can eat from it (the small bottles he has are easier to hold than the bigger ones) but he is grasping onto them, which is a small development.

jackson loves spending time with his daddy. any chance he can get, he chats with his daddy and gives him a few giggles. however, he has found a new way to spend time with his daddy. check this out:
jammin' on the ipod is just one of the few past-times he enjoys with his daddy. yes, wayne has one earphone in and jackson has the other one in. not sure what they are listening too, but jackson did give me a few smiles while the music was playing.

guess that is all for tonight. until next time!
