an added touch

last sunday, while we were still vacationing at home, i decided to go ahead and paint the letters that spelt jacksons name to put on the nursery wall. saturday, i went to get the paint from lowes. what i wanted to do was get two different types of paint in the same color and stripe the letters so it would look like two different colors. i did this a while back in my mom's half-bath at her house and it looked really good. however, i think the girl got the paint mixed up because the sticker that she put on the "flat" can said "eggshell" and the sticker that she put on the "eggshell" can said "flat". so if the base was flat and she added eggshell paint to mix the color, then my idea just would not work.

i went ahead and sanded the letters and then wayne taped them for me so that they would be striped. and we started painting... however, the paid was starting to look the same color. i was getting frustrated. the first coat dried a bit so i started pulling the tape off and the paint came with it... i was becoming more frustrated! so ... in the end, i just did all of them one solid color. i am actually kind of glad that i did because i love the way they turned out. here are some pictures. please excuse the wardrobe, i didn't want to get my good clothes dirty so i didn't get out of my gown. :)

and voila! they are done! oh and if the kitchen table looks new to some of you... it is! that was our christmas present from mom this year. yes, it is a bit early -- but we found a great deal and couldn't pass it up. we love it!!
